Infante Dom Henrique (Henry the Navigator)

Portuguese prince and central initiator of the Age of Discovery. From his navigational hub and observatory at Sagres, he systematically sponsored expeditions down the west coast of Africa, developed the caravel, cartography, and celestial navigation.
